Description:

The "Turgot Map" was commissioned in 1734 by by Michel-Etienne Turgot, the Chief Merchant i.e. Mayor of Paris of the time. Louis Bretez researched the map for two years (1734-1736). Claude Lucas created 21 engraving plates from Bretez's drawings and the map was published on 1739.

Though produced three decades after la Maupin's death, the map can give us a goot feel for Paris of the time. (See the rue Traversière and the larger area around the Palais-Royale.)
